Ouija for Witches - Spirit Guide Contact

It's October and everyone is talking about Halloween, spirits, witchcraft and of course Ouija boards!
Plenty of the population subscribes to the urban myth that Ouija boards are dangerous, even tools of demonic nature, and it's partly this unfortunate reputation that brings about a rise in interest in Ouija around this time of year - gotta love that commercialisation!
Personally, I don't subscribe to Oiujastitions anymore than I subscribe to superstitions about tarot, pendulums or pretty much every other form of divination out there - and they're all surrounded by popular Western culture vilifying any form of divination, not just Ouija.
I'm not here to write a post about Ouiastitions, why they're false or what to believe; I'm simply here to share with you the way in which I use my own Ouija board - mainly for personal spirit guide contact, but also other spiritual development exercises which I won't go into here. For today I want to focus on Ouija to contact spirit guides.
Now, I've never found a spirit board in a shop I liked enough to purchase. They all just seem too... commercialised I guess? After much pondering and a moment of creative explosion I painted my own on a piece of cardboard box. And I love it!!
As a witch, I am a firm believer in my own ability to manifest my intentions in the physical world - hello, that's magick right?? To consciously direct energy into something with a specific purpose or intent in mind is in essence a spell or ritual, an act carried out with the express purpose of achieving a specific outcome. In creating my own board, I physically and psychically protected both myself and my board from any energies other than the ones I wish to use the board to contact - ie, my spirit guides. Using my own ritual practices before, during and after the making of my board was another conscious magickal working in order to ensure full protection of myself and my board, so that it can and will only be used for my intentions alone.
To all who say Ouija is dangerous even to witches - that is my answer!
Ouija is a surprisingly easy way to contact one's Spirit Guide(s), IF Ouija is a tool that works for you. I love tarot cards, and have thus far found it my clearest means to receive messages from my Guides. However, I have long wished to have a clearer connection, and among many other divination, scrying and meditation practices, decided to alo try Ouija.
I will definitely write more on the other methods of divination I like to use as honestly I prefer most of them above Ouija, but due to Ouija's bad rap and the ignorance around it I felt compelled to briefly tackle it first.
THE PREPARATION:
This is the most important part of your entire ritual.
Prepare yourself and your space well. A bath with essential oils or sea salts, followed by calming protective meditation is a lovely way to prepare yourself physically, emotionally mentally and spiritually for any magickal or divinatory rituals.
Clear your mind of all distractions and ensure your intentions are set strong in your mind.
Prepare your space how you usually would for magickal workings (smudge, incense, clear the room, conjure a circle of protection, lay crystals, whatever it is you do to ensure you and your space is clear, high in vibration and protected from all but those with good intentions in line with your own). If you KNOW in your soul you're protected, YOU ARE. This is magick! You create your own protection against negative energies!
Sit down with your board in your prepared space when you are ready to begin divining. Clear your mind, and ask your Spirit Guide to communicate with you through the board (and ONLY your Guide). With your fingers on the planchette meditate on your Guide communicating with you through the board. Relax and allow yourself to be fully open, mentally and spiritually.
Take your time and don't give up immediately; just like any divination it can take some practice! If it doesn't work for you, or if you do feel too intimidated by the idea of allowing your guide to "use" you to communicate, stick with something else. But for those interested and clear in their intent and abilities - enjoy! I hope you find clarity and the communication you seek.
